Fume Extraction Systems - LEV Testing
To ensure your fume extraction systems are compliant with Health and Safety regulations, periodic testing should be carried out by a qualified engineer. Somerset Solders, in association with Donaldson BOFA International, can organise a site visit to inspect and test extraction systems.
- Qualified P601 engineer
- Detailed report provided for each LEV equipment tested
- LEV equipment is assessed at the customer's site
- LEV inspection both visually and by calibrated equipment
- Visual inspection of ducting, hoods and nozzles
- Checking of filters and filter efficiency
- Measurement of air velocity
- Use of smoke tubes to visualise airflow and any possible influence by cross drafts
- Measurement of the technical performance and assessment of the working conditions of the LEV system
Health & Safety and controlling airborne contaminants at work (HSG258)
- Under COSHH Regulations 2002, employers must assess the degree of exposure to fumes, implement adequate control measures and check and maintain LEV equipment.
- The LEV equipment must be in efficient working order and an efficient state
- Employers must ensure that thorough examination and testing of the LEV systems are carried out at a maximum of every 14 months
Types of equipment tested (many extraction system manufacturers supported, other than Donaldson BOFA):
